Packages

Personal training is available on Long Island in a variety of packages. There are two types of personal training packages: monthly or single sessions. Depending upon the package, you have the option of having a personal or group trainer visit you at your home. The sessions last 60 minutes and can be used in person at the Wellness & Recreation Center. The first session comes with a comprehensive consultation. Sessions are not guaranteed during University holidays and academic breaks. A Semester Pass expires after 6 months, but you are entitled to 3 sessions a week.

What is the difference between Aerobic Fitness (or Anaerobic Fitness)?

These tests cost little, are quick and simple to do, and can be carried out almost anywhere. For instance, you can walk on a treadmill for 2 minutes, rest for 1 minute, repeat this process for 20 minutes, and then stop. Your heart rate should remain within a specific range throughout the whole session.

This method is known by the "Bruce Protocol". Bruce was himself a runner and developed the protocol after realizing his heart rate wouldn't increase when he ran for longer distances.
